Six Steps to a Healthy Heart

1.) Don’t Smoke, or use tobacco products...
Tobacco smoke is the single most preventable cause of death in the United States.
As soon as you stop smoking, your risk of heart disease drops.

2.) Monitor your blood pressure...
If you have two or more readings of 140/90 mmHG or higher, consult you physician
for treatment.

3.) Read labels carefully...
Lower your saturated fats and cholesterol intake. Limit your fat intake to 8-10% of
your total daily calories.

4.) Stay physically active...
Start slow and build up to 30-60 minutes of vigorous activity 3-4 times a week.

5.) Maintain proper weight...
If you have too much fat around your waist, you are at a
higher risk for heart disease.

6.) Have regular medical check-ups and follow your doctor’s advice!
